A Full Scholarship for Online Participation at the Fusion Film Scoring Workshops 2022, valued at 650 Euros
The Fusion Film Scoring Workshops are designed for musicians and composers looking to enhance their knowledge and compositional skills in writing for Film and gain experience writing for a live ensemble. The workshops aim to give the composer all the essential tools needed to create an original Film Score with seminars by industry professionals that will cover both the aesthetic and creative aspects of writing for film and technical aspects and score preparation.
Meet the Director, Producer, and Sound Designer, and experience the real-life process of composing the original score for a film.
The faculty will mentor and assist individually every composer in producing an original score for a live Ensemble (with or without Electronics, optional);
Each participant will

Be mentored by our internationally acclaimed faculty and visiting industry professionals

Create an original score for a short film of approximately 5-minute duration.

Receive copyright permission to use in their portfolio & share the film with their music

Receive a recording of their composition mixed and mastered as well as a pro-tools session with all the recorded material to be used creatively in the future.

Selected participants will receive accreditation to take part at Thessaloniki International Film Festival 2021 where they will have the opportunity to meet film industry professionals and promote their work at the market (agora) of the festival.
In 2001, composers Maarten Spruijt, Vincent Beijer and Marco Deegenaars teamed up to found ProjectSAM. Not fully satisfied with the orchestral samples available at the time, they set out to record their own, focusing on three main things:

an ambient, multi-mic setup in a concert hall environment,

the right set of articulations, emphasizing on note lengths in-between a sustain and a staccato, to be able to build thematic lines,

instrumental effects that cannot simply be recreated using individual samples.

We recorded two types of legato for each instrument: Rebowed and Slurred for Strings, Fingered and Retongued for Woodwinds and Brass, Aah and Ooh for the Sopranos. You can even switch between the two types of legato without using key-switches, by using either velocity or CC.

We recorded just one dynamic layer on legato articulations, which is actually better for solo instruments. The less crossfades you do, the less phasing artifacts you get.
