Sound Design Competition
2024

WINNERS & FINALISTS

Jordan Mullen, Ireland

First Prize Winner 2024

“Jordan works at Scimitar Sound in Dublin and has been working in audio post production for the last 10 years. He is extremely passionate about sound and is known for his great attention to detail and dedication to the craft. His commitment to delivering excellent sound quality is evident in his work, covering all areas of audio post production from longform programming and feature films, to animation and numerous radio and tv commercial campaigns. Jordan’s sound work has been recognised with an EMMY nomination in 2021 for Angela's Christmas Wish and also an IFTA nomination for Sound Editing on The Young Offenders in 2018. More recently he was awarded a Bronze Shark for Sound Craft at the 2023 Shark Awards.
Away from the mixing desk, Jordan likes to consume a probably unhealthy amount of films and television series. You can probably find him at the cinema, travelling to new places or cheering on his beloved Liverpool. Y.N.W.A.”

Jean-Baptiste Montlibert,

Finalist 2024

Alexander Nezhinskiy, Australia

Finalist 2024

I’m Alex, a Siberia-born, Melbourne-based sound designer and composer, and my journey to where I am today has been anything but straightforward. While my first degree was in logistics, music has always been my real passion, ever since I was a kid playing guitar. Later, I earned a degree in creative technologies, focusing on audio-visual installations, which deepened my connection to sound and how it interacts with different media.
For the past seven years, I’ve thrown myself into sound design and music production. In 2021, winning 1st place at the National Championship of Creative Industries, Artmasters (Russia), was a major turning point for me. Now, through my studio, Evolsound, I channel my love for sound into designing music and sonic identities for commercial campaigns, brand films, and installations. Under my artist name, Evolsleep, I also write and produce my own music and explore art projects.

This year, I jumped into the Berlin International Sound Design Competition (BIFSC) to sharpen my skills, working on The Rise and the Fall of Globosome. The process was a lot of fun and pushed me creatively, and I’m happy to have made it to the finals!
